Default VERICHAT APN Information Clears

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I have spent over a week with Cingular on the phone. I have also been doing some research on the 3rd party apps, one of them being Verichat for multiple IM Ids.

Here is what I found, the information posted on here about the APN info was great! thanks to all for that info. If someone would tell Cingular that would be great. So one of the Cingular BB Call Center reps told me that the BB can't use the WAP gateway and that he was not sure why it was enabled but he was going to disable it. I told him no.

Also go directly to the BB Call Center, I agree with the other post, the Cingular Customer service people have NO idea. They want to charge you for the WAP option. I was not charged and the BB call center person told me that option should have been turned on.

NOW MY ISSUE:

When you go to Setting, Options, TCP I enter the APN information for Cingular and it works.

APN: wap.cingular
APN Username: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1

Ok, but no one call tell me, Cingualr or BB, why the AP info clears it's self out once a day. BB tells me it's not a defective device, they have heard of this from 3rd party apps.

In real words: They have no idea or it's a bug. Any ideas out there.

I goal is to get a stable IM app running and not sure Verichat is the right product?

I use BES with 4.02 OS of BB since Cingular does not support the 4.1 version yet.

Any help would be great.

I'm using Verichat on my 7100g. I must say that Verichat is more stable on the BB than on Palm OS devices specifically the Treo 650. I have no problem using Verichat on my device and the APN doesn't clear itself out daily either. Which BB are using on Cingular? I do know others who are using the 8700c and have had no such problem with the APN clearing when using Verichat as well.

My thinking is that maybe Cingular didn't provision your account correctly. Before hand, I had everything down as it should have been but unable to log in to Verichat. When I called BB Support 800-304-3044, I was told that my account had been provisioned properly. After they corrected the problem on their end, everything has been fine.

Being that you're using BES, maybe your company doesn't want you using such applications as Verichat for IMing. I'm not sure how your company does it, but some companies don't allow that especially when their employees are using BES. Just a thought. Feel free to send me a PIN. My PIN is in the sig if you need further help.

Are you able to Verichat at all?

Are you on one of the BB data plans?

What time of day does your APN clear?

Are you loggin off of Verichat and clears your APN?

Default Verichat and APN

Thanks for the reply. I am using the 7100G on Cingular.

Verichat does work, when the APN info is in there. When I woke up this AM, and tried to log in I got the could not connect to tunnel Failure. Which means the APN info was gone. Went into the setting filled it in again, and it worked!

I just can't' figure out why the APN clears it's self. Seems like after I power the phone or a refreesh is done on the Cingular side, not sure, it clears the APN info.

I had the TREO 650 as well, and there are a few features like MMS, VErichat and playing mp3s that are a thorn in the side at the moment.

No certain time that APN clears.

Logged off Verichat, APN still there.

Powered off, APN still there....for now..!
