Default Sudden GMAIL Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I use the POP feature in GMAIL to get my e-mail to my Blackberry. I was out of town all last week and it worked fine. Then as of yesterday I stopped getting e-mails. If I send an e-mail to my BB e-mail address it gets there immediately. I tried disabling and re-enabling POP on google and even tried the forwarding option and put in my BB e-mail but I am still not getting any of them on my BB. Any ideas?

I have my gmail set up to forward to my bb address. Works much faster than pop.

i too have gmail forward emails to my bb address. I tried the pop method and there can be upwards of 30 min delay before my bb received an email however, with the forward method, emails are received nearly instantaneous, usually the bb receives the email before i can view it in my gmail account. go figure

but use the forward method

I played with the various options for working with Gmail quite a bit and this appears to be the best setup:

1) Set up Gmail to forward to BB email address.
2) Configure BIS to send as Gmail address, instead of its own (optional)
3). Configure BIS to send a copy of BB-sent mail to your Gmail account. While not quite as nice as sitting in Gmail's sent folder, it gets a copy of your replies into the mailbox as part of the archive, and saved forever. When you go back and look at the "conversations", you get all the messges lumped together.

NOTE: The quirky thing about Gmail's POP access is that whenever ANY device POP's to it, it removes the message from the in-box. I manage all of my mail through Outlook, so BB grabbing my mail first was a problem. Forwarding instead of POPing solves this issue for me.

Plus, as has been mentioned, it is a million times faster using forwarding.

Agreed. I used to do the pop routine with Gmail and my BlackBerry but I've gone the forwardingf route as of late and no more delays. As soon as an email hits my Gmail account my BlackBerry goes off.

I use gmail.com and use the filters to forward mail to my BB BIS account. Works perfectly.

I find that the filters don't work on a forward; they only filter what comes in and stays in the inbox/trash, but they forward everything regardless of how the filters are set...

Works for me. Read the help on how to set them correctly using the AND, OR options.

e.g

Forward mail addressed to:

"abc@xyz.com" OR "def@xyc.com"

Search for the thread that explains how it is done. It actually works great!
