Is there a BB service provider in Canada that provides a voice plan only service?

If your Blackberry is unlocked it has no issues with Prepaid sim's, I use one all of the time. If you have a Sim with voice only you would be find the trick may be seeing if there is a provider that will sell you the Blackberry without data.

First I want to say this has been talked about in DEPTH and a quick "Search" (Upper Right hand corner) will help you out A LOT. yes, there are ways to check. The easiest way is to just put another sim in it, if it works it is unlcoked if not it is;nt. But here is the technical way to check it:

BlackBerry SIM Unlock Procedure for devices running 3.7.1 handheld software:

1) Turn off the radio! VERY IMPORTANT
2) Go to 'Options' and click on 'SIM Card'
3) Hold down <ALT> then type 'MEPD'

BlackBerry SIM Unlock Procedure for devices running 3.8/4.0 handheld software:

1) Turn off the radio! VERY IMPORTANT
2) Go to 'Options' and click on 'SIM Card'
3) Type 'MEPD'

BlackBerry 7100g SIM Unlock Procedure:

1) Turn off the radio! VERY IMPORTANT
2) Go to 'Options' and click on 'SIM Card'
3) Type 'MEPD' (multitap means this will be typed in [M] [ER] [OP] [OP] [DF])

I will answer you follow up queation while I am at it. "How do I unlock a Locked blackberry?"

DO a search you will find MANY topics on it. I was able to get mine unlocked for FREE from Cingular within 2 weeks of becoming a customer, but you have to pay FULL price for it. Most US carriers will unlock it after you are a "good" customer for 3 months if you ask. Also, there are many service on the net that can do it for a fee.
