Default Verizon 7250 or new 7130 - which would you choose & why

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All. My company is going to issue me a BB devise. I have a choice between a 7250 or the newer smaller 7130. Both seem pretty nice. I live in IL and the verizon coverage out here is real good. What I want in the devise is a good email/web devise and the phone is the least of my prob's. I travel a lot and live on email and I want to best devise for these features. Can you all break it down for me on the good/bad of either devise?

Thanks - Telli97

Selecting a device is very user subjective. But most can agree that the 7250 with its full QWERTY keyboard is the best for heavy email users. Whereas the 7130 is best for heavy phone users.

The most overriding plus for the 7130 is its screen. Has very good quality and can be seen in sunlight. Whereas the 7250 is difficult to read in sunlight.

There is a long thread on this already.

I suggest a search.

But in your case, if you do a lot of e-mail, the 7250 is probably better, but I'm not objective. I don't like SureType.

I would agree with the previous two posts. I was actually able to get a Beta 7130e from Verizon to compare it with the 7250, which I own. The screen on the 7130e is a huge selling point along with the speakerphone, but I just could not get comfortable with the suretype keys. I was at the point where I could type almost as fast with the suretype, but the it was the words that it misinterpreted that I had to go back and change that got frustrating. The 7130e also seems to be a little faster using the Blackberry browser and it formats the screen a little better. I do have EVDO on the 7250 so I should see the same speed when comparing the speed devices. It also seems having double the memory in the 7130 makes it a little faster when processing information. Finally, I made the decision to hand the 7130 off to a teammate and go back to my 7250, just for the use of the keyboard. I would say that if you truely use the device for email 60% of the time or more then go with the 7250.
