Has anyone figured it out yet? I want to enable network selection on my 8700c and have my blackberry show the actual network I am on instead of it always showing "Cingular".

I hope there is someone out there that knows how to do this!!!!

Posting the same thread over and over and over is not going to get the answer any quicker. Since this is (at least) the third time you've posted this, I guess the answer is "no".

Mr. "Super Moderator". There is no need for you to be sooooo controling. When you don't get an answer, you are supposed to keep trying and trying. It either means your forum is getting very low traffic or all of the knowledgable people are going to other forums.

Oh...by the way, if you ban me because of this post, it will show us who you guys really are.

Shq. If youre on the orange network, there is no way. If you can find an AT&T wireless store, sign up through them...but if you have a Cingular 64K or 3G smartchip in your berry..then youre pretty much SOL.

Blackberry: Canadian for flashlight. (Its a joke...I often find myself using my BB as a flashlight.)

There should be some sort of program out there that would allow us to edit the programing in the phone, much like the moto programs out there that allow us to seem edit the phone and allow for manual network selection and showing true network name tags.

Has that been your experience? That is one of my concerns. When I roam internationally, I want to select the network in the country I visit.

Yes, that's how it works.
In the US, you will only see Cingular.
Leave the country, set the network selection to manual, and you can choose an lock in.

Is that because the sim is pre programmed to recognize domestic roaming partners and then allow the bb to open additional options when outside the US?

Threats are good! They are guaranteed to frighten people into answering your call for help!

Couldn't tell you. Personally I don't need to know why - just when I am outside of the US, it shows the actual carrier.

In this case it probably means Monitor First 15 Posts. Normally Monitor First Ten Posts, or MFTP, which means that the answer is all over the place if you search for it.

I don't think he's been controlling. Perhaps you should take some iniative and search around. I am not trying to flame or anything. I have just noticed that people who are active on forums won't respond to threads with topics that have been covered before. Can't we all just get along?

I have searched and nothing came up....hence the reason why I ask the question again.

It's not a threat. To threat would mean I have a way to retaliate or punish the mod, which I can't. So it's not a threat.
