I would guess that you are on a corporate BES. If so, they may have the policies enabled to disable SMS and PIN since you are not seeing either. To check if you have a policy loaded go to Tools > Settings > Security.
That was it!!! I had my company remove me from this No-SMS policy on our Blackberry Enterprise Server (they never knew why it was there in the first place) and now I can SMS. Thanks a lot for the assistance. Gotta love these forums.
