On my T-Mobile 7105t, using the Blackberry Browser, I am unable to access web sites that are not running on port 80.
The URL I enter into Goto... is of the form:
http://server:8080/path
When I do this, the browser hangs on a white screen for a minute or two, then tells me that the server is busy.
Interestingly enough, if I use the Download Fun browser (is this the WAP browser?) instead of the Blackberry Browser, the connection can be made and the page loads.
Can anyone explain this? And if so, is there any setting I can change to let the Blackberry Browser work with non-port 80 sites?
To be more specific, I am trying to use my own web server and my ISP blocks port 80. Other ports are not blocked, so I just run the server at port 8080. I have tried several other ports with no success. One of the things I want to do is put some custom ringtones on my server, and if I use the Download Fun browser to access them, they will play, but cannot be saved. I have used Lucky Luciano's site successfully with the ring tones, but would really just like to figure this out.
Thanks,
