Is there a way to put an icon for the sound player on my home screen?

If not, is there a way to even access the player without going to a site to download a sound?

Has anyone used this as an mp3 player for music?

The Blackberry is not an MP3 Player, it is a communication tool. I think the "Sound Player" is part of the Browser Application, and is there to allow preview of audio files prior to downloading and saving for ringtones. You can go to the profiles application and listen, that is the only way after they are downloaded.

thanks rcbjr. I didnt think there would be a way to launch it...

its a shame.. being a biz device, it would benefit by allowing such things such as mp3 loading and playing (for audiobooks and mp3 recordings of meetings etc..)

I think a camera would be useful too.. realtor and insurance adjusters would love being able to shoot and email right from the phone. Not to mention the many police officers that use these have mentioned they would love a camera in them!

I diisagree here, I don't think that many businesses use audiobooks for business related documentation and a very large portion of the RIM target audience prohibit any personal recording devices of any kind, anywhere on there premises. I understand there are ebook applications for the blackberry
As to cameras, most phone cameras, while maybe having the reolution, don't have adequate control functions to perform as you suggest for business purpose, especially Law Enforcement.
