Angry 8700c emergency calls only (please help)

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone experienced trying to make a call and getting the message
"Sorry, only emergency calls are allowed"
I spoke with Cingular, their solution was to replace my first device with a new 8700c and a new SIM card. According to Cingular it was a problem with the software on the device. I replaced my "old" 8700c after three weeks. I have had the new device for less than 24 hours and I am now receiving the same message.
The device will not allow any calls, but I can get online and send/receive email.
Any thoughts . . .

It is a problem related to recognizing the SIM. Take out the battery and make sure the SIM is pushed all the way in. You would get the same message if it had no SIM. The SIM isn't making good contact.

It isn't recognizing the SIM card for some reason. Either it can't read it or Cingular turned it off.
