Default first drop and now...

my 8700 fell off my desk (in holster, but popped out) and now the LED indicator is not working. about a 2 1/2 foot drop onto an area rug. Anyone have any suggestions? My 30 days is up so I'm not all that confident that they would give me a new one or not if I tried to take it back now!

Did you go to the keyboard/screen settings, turn the LED notification off and then back on? Sometimes they just decide to not work anyway and need to be reset.

I would be tempted to call that defect if it stopped working after falling 2.5 feet onto a padded surface, in the holster. Its an LED, not a filiment-based light source.
