Default New Yahoo IM Service

Please Login to Remove!

Yahoo announced new mobile services. I tried to get Messenger to work, and it does log me in. Logged me out of my PC at the same time. BUT I can't get my 8700 to send a message. Has anyone tried it and got it to work? I tried the browser version.

Default Success and YOU GET A WAP PUSH Message

Well I don't need always on and don't use this much, but heck for a quick message back and forth without fees for text messaging this will work just fine. What was the issue. Need to make sure you are using the mMode browser and not the BB or Internet Browser.

Also you get a WAP PUSH message when you get a new IM. That is the little globe Icon.

stinson what is the Mmode browser? Did you get that when you downloaded? I noted that there wasn't a choice for the 8700 so which did you choose for berry? This was in cingular match.

Default Scroll over your internet icons on the Home Screen

You will see the one that says Mmode. Icon depends on which Theme you have. If you got the email from Yahoo, copy the address, then open it with Mmode and it should work.

Default Try them both then.

Not sure why you don't have mMode. Maybe there is no WAP provisioned to your account.

Any chance that Stinsonddog is a Cingular "Blue" customer and Jelly Bean is a Cingular "Orange" customer? I think mMode is from AT&T Wireless...

here is what I have under cingular browser media net
Mail & messaging
accounts
new mobile email!
new mobile IM!
yahoo mail
yahoo messenger
MSN hotmail
MSN messenger
AOL mail
medianet mail
address book
calandar
add email account
media net home
help
search

Now, I got the yahoo messenger voice on laptop, and I tried to yahoo instant message with black berry and it sucks....you have to toggle thru a few different screens and you can't see the whole conversation, it is as bad as email accept you don't have to wait 15 minutes for it to post. Then I downloaded MSN voice messenger and it is btter, at least I get to see the whole conversation on the berry but you stil have to go thru these options screens and several steps to post. Both are totally NOT like the blackberry instant message or typical instant messaging that we have on PC's. Now on the above menu, when I click onthe section that says NEW MOBILE IM! I get this message:error occured, we are sorry but the product you requested is not currently available for your phone. Please return to the media mail storefront homepage.

Default Yes I am Cingular Blue

Yes this also isn't true IM. If I used it that much I would buy Verichat or something but for the occaisional conversation it works. For my fellow BB users I use BB Messenger which is great real time IM. That's where most of my IM happens so this is nice to have for a casual conversation once in a while.

Most of my work colleagues use Yahoo IM. It would be really handy to have a true Yahoo IM client on the BB. I know about the "other" methods such as text-based SMS messaging. This is klunky.

Also, I wonder if all of the Yahoo IM services use SMS, as I know the text-based service does. Cingular charges me extra for SMS messaging, even though I have an unlimited data plan. So even a full IM client would still be a problem for me if it was SMS-based.

Default Then get Verichat or Webmessenger

Those are true clients not SMS based. I would not recommend this for once is a while use, but I tested it today and it does work. Even in the middle of a conversation.

Is this what you are looking for? It's a BB client by RIM and it's been out for while now...uses the same technology as the BB Messenger...I've used it before and it does work very well...except I don't know anyone on AIM so I have no one to talk to!

Default Rim's Yahoo Client doesn't work on all carriers

The Yahoo product I have been using for 3 days now works on Cingular without SMS, and while it doesn't show the running chat it works including message notification (WAP push) and an alert to the other person that you are mobile. I think for occasional use it is great to have. If I were on it for more than 20-30 min a day I would buy one of the other products. I use it about 3-4 min a day, and mostly use BB messenger.

Default Cingluar isn't an option for that client

That's why I went with what I did. I am now wondering if the SMS version, they have two (SMS and Web) looks like a true IM. I have a charge for my SMS so I choose the web version.
