if i put a boost mobile sim card in the new bb's, will they work? i remember that the older blackberry's were somewhat compatible with boost mobile.

Boost Mobile uses Nextel's iDen network. So it won't work at all in the 7100 BB, which is GSM/GPRS only.

Correction to my earlier post: It could work with the Nextel 7100i. But not with the 7100t,v,r variations.

But from what I read you can't use the Blackberry fully on the boost sim, just the phone function. Boost doesnt offer a BB plan...just a pretty limited data plan. Try it and see and report back to us.

If the bb has service books on it, the user can usually get limited data functions on the bb....

I agree, limited data is what I said, just not "true" BB functionality

i have been using boost mobile with my Blackberry 7520 since october 2005. everything works with me except the HTML Browser and the email... I use:

Telenav (Works fully)
VeriChat (Works Fully)
NOL WAP Browser (Works Fully)
Google Talks (doesnt work says i dont have the 'required service books')
Opera Mini (i keeps getting a java error)
Gmail Mobile (Works Fully)
Ramble (Works Fully)


ill recheck the opera mini once i upgrade to 4.1 tonight... something else i also tried was signing up for a mailstreet and tried to do the enterprise activation. it didnt work but ill get back to everyone when i upgrade in a few hours...

also i didnt have to unlock it or anything.. boost sims work just as good a nextel sims.. i have taken my boost mobile sim and placed them in ANY nextel phones and they have loaded and gotten signal and everything works... my simcard from boost does have 64k btw

Well it took about an hour for the 4.1 to install.. for starters i still cant connect to the BES server, telenav is gone (have to reinstall it) as well as the nextel browser. so im not able to try to see if i have internet there.

Opera Mini (Works.... it take 2 minutes to load and it runs really slow.. but i have full web access through it)

Still tryin to find a program that actually checks mail with POP3 Since i cant seem to get the Enterprise activation to work... im going to talk to boost mobile tomorrow to see if i can get them to open a port or something... but other than that i like the new layout of 4.1. phone takes longer to turn on, but i guess its worth it..
