Need help with sure type

for some reason i don't know it seems as if my sure type is no longer workinf . Could i have turned it off ?? it worked when i got it bt now it doesn't seem to beworking can someone help

Yes, it is possible to turn suretype off, which will turn the device over to "multi-tap" mode, where you would need to press the qw button twice to type "W". If multi-tap mode is on, you will have a small box in the upper right corner that says "ABC". To switch between modes, press and hold the * key.

I don't have suretype on my 8700c, but I noticed recently that it puts in some punctuation for me, althought it aint helping me type. How much does the BB do. For example when I type "cant" it will add the ' so it ends up as "can't". Is there a dicitionary somewhere of what it does and doesn't add?
