I joined the darkside today by buying a new BB 8700. I was a hardcore motorola user but got tired of flash/flex, bit work, and crap. So I bought the BB. I'm definately just a student and not a fancy suit wearing bussiness dude (yet). So I was wondering is there alot of "regular consumers" out there with the BB or are the majority of the owners using it for bussiness. Prepare for alot of questions from me (don't worry I know where the search functions at).

My name is John hope to meet some friendly people here, deuce.

I would say there is a good mix of people here but most of the main contributors and very knowledgeable folks that end up with the nice "how to's" and innovative uses for the device are businessmen and/or professionals of some sort. But your group is highly represented here as well.

good to know that there are other spoiled rich kids out there (jp). I contributed alittle bit at HOFO back in the day and plan on seeing what I can do here. Since I hit "buy it now" on ebay I've read a gagillion threads at the forums and notice that there is way less crap on this forum then on the others. Think I'll like it here.

LOL... I don't even beleive on wearing a tie and I am an Accountant.. Jeans, T Shirt, and maybe the occasional dress shirt... but that's even too dressed up... As far as what I us my blackberry for is because I always have to be up with technology. I like the fact I can have my work email any time even when I am not home... but as far as company wise.... we don't use them

I'm bracing for the inevitable -- "where do you load the ring tones", "does the $10 data plan support push email?" and naturally the "this sucks, I'm putting it on eBay".

ok, this seems like a good time for me to ask a stupid question.... how do I type a lower case character at the beginning of a sentence when BB FORCES an upper-case character? yeah, i'm sure it's in the FAQ somewhere, but since we've got an audience of newbies here ;)

Imediately after the letter is upper cased, hit backspace and then retype letter. It will be lower case. There may be another way, I don't know, but that works.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

This phone is freaking sweet! Props to all you old farts for creating the guides, props to the elite developers (jiveslide, bbweather, etc) all of the programs are working great and last props to the people who asked the "how to" questions without you guys I wouldn't get answers when I used the search buttons. Freaking sweet by the way I'm writting this while pregaming at the lodon royal philharmonic gig. Deuce, john

checkout simprit.com for their miniringtones app -- looks like a sweet way to load mp3 ringers to the 8700 and props to walmart for providing an almost endless supply..

I believe the 8700 is still a child and needs some up bringing. Not all of the programs work properly. It does the push email great. RIM may loose out to other vendors such as Treo and Nokia if they don't get there programs working.

I am a little confused by this statement? My 8700 has worked great, I have not had any failures, even every 3rd party app I have tried to run on it works. So what has RIM done that doesn't work?

fxstsb - so far you have five postings and five complaints. What are you looking for? I am not sure there is a device out there that will satisfy you.

Ok, yes I am reaching out. And based on your number of post I should assume what?
My 8700c will not display .pdfs correctly. Will your 8700?
My browser does not support 128 bit encryption, will yours?
I must assume that since you posted to this thread that you have an 8700.
I also assume that the two problems that I have, you don't.
from your post, I can assume that you want people to know something about me and you. I do not see any comments from you on the threads that I initiated concerning my problems.
Thank you for your insight.
