Default Can't Activate with BES 4.0 Server with a 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

I just set up BES 4.0. When trying to activate the Blackberry with our server, it just hangs on the screen that says "Activating" and nothing else happens. If there an easy way to test/troubleshoot this ?? I've looked on the knowledge base on the blackberry site, and can't find anything...

I just activated 18 of these on a BES.... Had that happen a couple times. Does your connection show EDGE, if not then they have not activated the data portion of your plan.

If you see EDGE but still can not, check to make sure that the email address and password are correct (had that happen on one).

If the email and password are correct, check with your administrator as the password generated is only good for 48 hours.

If you still have no luck call tech support as they may not have the PIN for the BB in the system ( had that happen on two). They also had them go to advanced options > Host Routing table, click the thumbwheel and choose register now.

One of those should work......

I hear you on that,, I'm in Virginia and some of my users are in California... fortunately those went off without a hitch... It was the local users that gave me the most trouble... go figure...

Not sure if it is an option for you or not, but if the user can download and install Desktop Manager 4.1, connect to your BES, wipe the 8700c and then activate using the cable, that may work better than OTA activation. If you are upgrading from an older BB it may still hang at 90% and you will have to wipe the handheld again and start over. The second time it should work fine though.

I had one user install the desktop manager software that came with the Blackberry and used the included intellisync to update his BB from Outlook.. and it corrupted his service book.. he could send an email, but not reply to one.. also could not use the web browser... once I sent the service book down, it was fixed.....

On the BES, select the user - right click > IT Admin > Resend Service book..

Again this user was already activated, but his service book was corrupted when he used intellisync....

I feel really silly about this now, but we had a problem with the SRP key and t was entered wrong sometime during the installation. once that was fixed, the server status light turned green and everything is working now.. thanks for the help people.
