This is too annoying.. I am with -mobile and you guys know that every time you dial #646# you will get the minutes used and #225# will give you the bill balance.
Well, every time I send dial these number and it displays the info with very high audible alert.
Is there any way to turn it off.
Please help.

I am talking to RIM person right now and he is saying that these alerts are coming from T-mobile and not from my BB8700. I told him get some training. No phone company with send the ring tone with every call that comes to you -

Is the data sent to you as an SMS message? If so, set up a profile to mute alerts when out of holster and change to that profile before requesting the data.

If you aren't sure - turn off all sounds for all activities (phone, web, messages, etc..)

-then reactivate them 1 by 1 and doing a #646# after each activation

Then youll see which is doing the alert

Thanks friends for your thoughts but this is not working. So finally I talked to RIM on this and they asked me to send the email on this issue to bbsuggesions rim dot com and they will definately try to address this in the newer version. so thats all I could do for now.
Hopefully they will fix it.

This has nothing to do with profiles.

This must be unique to TMO then because when I do the same thing on Cingular, the data is returned as an SMS message, complete with the appropriate ringtone. And when I change my profile to vibe, it only Vibrates.

Anyone else with an 8700 on TMO having this problem?

Thanks you for the clarification because now I know it has to do something with T-mo also.

Just curious, are the TMO results of these two requests sent as SMS messages like Cingular's are?

No, they are not SMS and thats why I can not control the sounds thru profile. They come as network alerts and alerts are not profiled on BB.

That explains the difference at least.
