Default 8700c Network Selection?

Please Login to Remove!

Any one knows what is the best rout to get the 8700c to be able to display teh availabel networks? Cingular blockes htis option and I don't want to take a chance as I will be traveling and where I travel the manual choice for me is the best as I always end up on one of the worst ntworks some how when the phone automaticaly chooses the local roaming network. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am almost positive that you cant chose the network you want to roam on with teh 8700c and im almost positive that you cant do it with any semi recent phone that cingular has released.

It is usaualy a SIM thing with Cingular. But some how with the 8700 when I put the int'l SIM I could not get the list. Ithe 8700c was unlocked (code given to me by Cingular) and I am thinking that it might be some where where it gotunlocked in the menue. I don't want to mess around with it as I am not that familiar with the BBs But I was able to unblock those with the Moto with some hacking.

The option will appear as soon as you roam on a foreign network.

When I had a 7280 and firmware around 3.7, I could see the networks. As soon as I upgraded to 4.0, I no longer could.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

It is in part a SIM "thing". I am Cingular Blue and I have the option to change it here in the US.

If once I travel to a foreign country, it lists networks selections for me (which is true, because I had seen that showing up on my 8700c), does it also make sense that, if I insert a non-cingular SIM in ANY COUNTRY, the network selection will show up?

I would like to be able to manual select the network with a non-cingular SIM card on a cingular unlocked 8800...is this possible?

This is true for all unlocked BBs. If you have any SIM other than Cingular you will always see teh netwrok selection (that is if the local SIM does not block it like Cingular does).

Yup. Because Cingular's Orange SIM's don't allow for network select -- not the 8700c itself.
