My question is "what's the hype behind the 8700"? I currently have the 7105T and I'm satisfied...

Me too, I love my 7105t, first I thought the draw back is the keyboard, but after using it for a while, it is actually very accurate.

I just received my 7100t that I got from ebay and so far I am loving everything this device has to offer. Just finished installing 4.1 and all works well. I still may take a look at the 8700 once it comes to tmo but I am in no rush to pull somethin on amazon to get one faster.

87OO has the full qwerty keyboard, dedicated send and end keys, speakerphone, 64 mb rom 16mb sram, mp3 ringtones. so it seems like a great phone but it is still just as bulky as any other blackberry. i switched from a 7290 to my 7100 and i love it. the phone is better and you can acctually put it in your pocket without looking like you are shoplifting. if an 8700 comes available i might try it out as long as my manager will let me switch back if i decide to. very pleased with my 7100

I got frustrated with suretype about 1 month into owning it. I'll be looking into the 8700's when my contract is up, or when I can get it for <$300.

I got a 7100, I would *like* an 8700 for the faster cpu and edge.

Do I regret it? No, as unlocked the 7100 cost me $169... unlocked 8700 would run me what; like $500.

I ride the rails for far too long every day, so EDGE is really important for me to read news. I tried an 8700 and loved it, but work won't cough up the dough to replace my 7105t. I was able to load 4.1 on the 7105t though, so I at least have a functionally equivalent, albeit slower version. Maybe I'll "accidentally" drop the 7105t or something.

I like the 8700 but it's simply too large (size) for me. The 7100 does the trick and still retains the traditional cell phone size. I am glad i went with the 7100.

Everyone I work with has been switching to the 8700 - I love my 7100 - the 8700 is still a 'pie-plate'. I like the cell-phone form factor-

I want to switch to the 8700. I love the size of the 7100, but sure-type is killing me.

How much could I expect to get for my used 7100? Where is the best place to sell it?

Yeah, I love the SIZE of the 7100, but even though I think sure-type is pretty nice, I'd like full size keyboard, and most importantly EDGE.

See my post about this in the 8700 forum. I am very unhappy with the 8700 after 2 days, and will likely switch back to the 7100t, at least for now. I think the 7130e could be the ticket though, for faster EVDO data speeds, and better reception in the Chicago area.

I went to the store and tried the 8700. Couldn't stand the 8700 keyboard. So I'm sticking with my 7100, and living with suretype. I upgraded to 4.1 and that was helpful.

I just had a chance to hold the 8700 yesterday at a Cingular store and even though I don't regret the 7100, once the 8700 is released on tmo I belive I will have to get it. Its just to nice to pass up imo.

I'm loving the 7105t with the 4.1 os. The suretype thing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. All in all, once you upgrade the 71 it there is no reason to get the 8700 other than speed and mp3tones. I think that once the price becomes more reasonalbe everyone will switch because of the speed it offers-plus it's the latest/greatest.
