Question D and R

Please Login to Remove!

I brought this up in another thread, just in passing. But I really am curious:

The old BlackBerry 950 provided Ds when messages were delivered to another 950, just like the 8700 does with other 8700 users.

But it also gave you an R to indicate the message was opened.

Any reason the 8700 can't do that?
Anyone know why Cingular dropped that feature?
