I posted some pics in another thread. It is a winner and a must have. Very secure with full swivel.

jnelson -

Do you know if a version without the flap will be introduced as well? I'm really just looking for a leather pouch/holster like I had for my 7520 for the 8700.

I haven't seen this case yet so I'm holding out hope it DOESNT have the flap... I like my 7290 case. As soon as we have high quality images we will post them.

I just bought this case for my 8700R. I have bought from this company before as I have one of their cases for my old Berry. Their cases are awesome (nice soft leather) and the build quality is great.

Also, I bought this last night and it's already been shipped.

Umm, there are a couple threads on here already about this case, and most posts are about how crappy the case is. The leather is glued and comes apart at the seams, and the leather on the belt clip is too thin, loose, and generally not well done. Most people, including myself, have returned them shortly after we received them.

I'm using the RIM leather (no flap) case from the 7750. Works perfectly too...and fit is just right but, I had to add a magnet to the outside on the back as the 7750 magnet placement is not suited for the 8700. I took a magnet from a wrecked RIM 72xx hydrafoam (junk) case that I had and just glued it on the back. I don't think I'll need any other case as this one is great and I've had issues with other cases. One thing I've found with most of these leather cases is that I need to use "Lock when holstered" mode so that the keys don't accidentally get pressed while sliding into the holster. I also programmed the front convenience button for Keyboard Lock as it's usually the 1st one to get hit while sliding in. I guess another option would be to place another magnet near the top backside of the case so that when the phone starts sliding in, it locks even before it hits its final position at rest. I still prefer the RIM belt swivel over all the others out there...it appears to be the most solid and reliable of all. My fear when riding my bike is that somehow, the phone/case will slide off my belt, but this just doesn't happen with the RIM original case. Just my .02 worth...

How do you know this is what it's going to look like? The web page says leather holster. The one you have pictured is not a holster but a case. I'm just curious. I hope it does not have the flap.

I just ordered one anyway.

Did anyone notice this statement on the page?
Quote:
Perfect Fit for your 8700 BlackBerry - even with the extended battery.
What does that mean? I'm not doubting there is an extended battery, but I AM doubting that the extended battery causes one to need a new, specially designed battery cover which would affect the way holsters/cases need to be designed to hold it properly. What gives???
