Default Is there a way to silence the keypad when dialing?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I just got a blackberry 7130 today, and I cannot silence the device when I am dialing. I have been on hold with verizon and blackberry (who defers all questions to the cell provider) for over an hour, and it seems like there is no way to dial silently.

I can't imagine that this is not possible-some people need to dial discreetly (i.e. to check voicemail, etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Chuck

I did try that, but that did not silence my dialing. Does this indicate a defective 7130, and I should return it?

No, believe it or not, there is no way that I can find to silence the keypad when dialing. Only the key pad can be silenced for tasks such as email, sms, all the other times you would type on the QWERTY board EXCEPT when dialing numbers. It is just like picking up a normal land line phone, you cant make the keys not beep. It sucks I know, maybe someone out there knows a workaround but as far as I know there is not. I have a 7100t with Tmobile.

Wow, that is unbelievable. I suppose a well placed piece of scotch tape may help decrease the volume of the dial tones.

I wonder if a firmware upgrade from any of the carriers could correct this, or is this a hardware issue that we all have to live with?

It is pretty unbelievable. I am glad I work in an enviornment where noise is a constant so it doesnt matter. But I do see your point in being able to silence this, it would be nice. I don't think any upgrade will help. I am running OS 4.1 and it still has no option to silence the dialing.
