Default My New 8700 Case

Ok, I figured I would just start a generic 8700 case thread. I think it's to satisfy my own addiction to leather cases. Since cases are a rather personal accessory for the Blackberry I thought it would be nice to share pics as the new cases come out for the 8700 so that we could see them up close and get some quality reviews.

I posted my pics and comments on the Nutshell Pouch case here:

My New Nutshell Case

I also bought a universal case from Piel Frama (one black and one tan) http://www.pielframa.com/indexeng.htm

The fit and finish are excellent. This is the Small universal PDA case. The size is not an exact fit but it is very close. Once inside the case the phone does not move around. It's very snug. I taped a slim magnet on the inside to put it in sleep mode. I like to carry my phone in my pocket sometimes and this is why I bought this case. Bluetooth reception is still good even in the case as I never walk very from from my phone anyway. The black case, which is exactly the same model as the tan one is about 4mm longer and wider. I'm not sure why this is.

I really like the look and fit of the tan case. If you want protection in a case while it's in your coat or pants pocket then this is a good case.

I like the look of the case but is it really practical?

When it's in your pocket and a call comes in you've got to take it out of your pocket, remove the top portion, then remove the Blackberry? Then you're left holding three pieces (top case, bottom case and Blackberry) while using the device with only two hands.

Is it really functional?

Which offers a more slimmer profile for pocket carrying, this or the Nutshell?

The top portion comes off and then can slide back onto the bottom portion of the case creating a one piece. This is how I have been leaving it in my pocket at the office. Phone rings and I just put my headset on. Incoming email comes in and I take it out of my pocket(case is already in open - top is pushed into the bottom). The overall dimensions are almost identical to the Nutshell pouch. The Piel Frama does not have quite as much depth as the Nutshell due to the leather not being as thick. If you don't like wearing your case on your hip and prefer it in your pocket this will work. It's a trade-off to me. If you want protection, the case is going to have to have some bulk to it. A thin leather sleeve of some sort would be ideal for the pocket but would not provide as much protection.
