Default Cingular 7290 sound quality? I don't mean volume

I know the newer 8700 is considered louder (earpiece) than the 7290. I'm OK with that, since I tend to use headsets in outdoor/noisy environments anyway.

But, one of my biggest pet peeves about phones is the incoming audio quality. If it's garbly, full of random compression noise, overly hissy, then that's not good.

I'm currently using a Nokia 6010 with great RF call holding ability, and a reasonable ammount of "noise". I can deal with it.

How does the Cingular 7290 fare? Remember, I'm talking about clean-sounding audio.

PS: I live in the SF Bay Area, mostly 1900 MHz.
