Default Need Help - Cingular CS Return

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

This might be off topic - but I really need help. I ordered 3 phones on a family plan on December 7th, 2005 (one of which was my 8700c). They arrived along with 2 random Nokia phones that I never ordered.

Call 1: I called Cingular upon receiving them and asked 1) why i received these and 2) to send a fedex label so that I could return them. They said that it was their mistake and that a fedex label would be sent immediately. I thanked them and waited patiently.

Call 2: A week passed and no label - so I called again. They said they didn't know what happened to the last order, so they would send another one.

Call 3: Waited another week or so - no label. Called AGAIN - same response, was a bit peaved but said I'd wait.

Call 4: No label, called them on January 12, asking where the heck my label was. Dodged question and said they'd put in an order right away. Gave me order #. Received the label on January 14th - with NO FEDEX LABEL. Only had return claim form which clearly stated "customer is responsible for shipping charges".

Call 5: Returned from vacation, called Cingular this morning - asked why Fedex label wasn't included. They said that my request was put in after the 1 month activation (ordered phones on Dec 7, 2005). Told them to look up my history - they acknowledged that I had been requested labels within the 1 month, but that I hadn't shipped them. They never answered why I nevere received them. Basically told me I have to ship them back myself.

So, here I am with two unopened, unused, brand new in original shipping box! And Cingular wants me to pay to ship them back. I can pay this, but just on principal alone, I'm fuming and refused to send them anything. I'm guessing I have been on the phone over 3 hours (adding up the time of my 5 calls to cingular), I've never worked so hard to return something in my life!!!!

I am confident that I followed protocal, can anyone give me any suggestions? I've been with Cingular since December and needless to say I'm VERY unimpressed with their CS.

SO did they come in addition to the 8700 and other two phones you ordered? If so did they come with service...If not I would dump them on somebody or sell them.

I want an 8700 bad but at this point not willing to deal with cingular keeps me away...

Sell them on ebay. You can even have the buyers pay for shipping.

I'm not sure I will get the same price for them. I have the contracts, not just the phones!

Did you get charged for them? You aren't paying for 5 lines of service, are you? You can cancel the 2 lines without returning them. But I agree, I have had the same issues as you, but I did get my labels after the 3rd call within the 1 month. And you should have gotten a return claim number from the first call that you keep track of. But, now you are 2 months after your original order, I believe if you can find the original order paperwork, and if it only shows 3 were ordered, you still should be able to get it corrected by talking to a supervisor. It is not like you are trying to stop service. They are horrible to deal with.

ps. you can also join the forum on Cingular's site and complain about it there.

Good Luck,

Got to admit, you didn't return them within the 30 days [snicker, snicker]. Not only will they make you pay the shipping but I bet the charge you the ETF. Dude, you in a tough spot.

Maybe you can take them to a company store and get a receipt for them.
