Will the BlackBerry still be able to fit in the OEM leather holster that is "supposedly" going to be out in early/mid/late (never?) February?

Also, when do you expect the OEM holster to be available?

Thanks.

All of the RIM holsters are designed with elastic material to fit larger batteries.

Holsters should arrive on Feb 20.

went from the 13th to the 20th? You also said your credit card doesn't get charged until you ship, mine was charged, but not a big deal to me, I thought they were in already. i even emailed 2 days ago but got no response.

This is more of a business issue than a BBF topic but I feel that many might benefit from the following:

SPD policy is - Credit cards are not billed until product is being processed. Are ther exceptions? Sure. Partial shipments are one such exception.

We get this question often... what's happening is the amount of the purchase is "pre-authorized". In effect we are saying to a credit card processor "this customer would like to buy something for this amount, will you approve it?". The processors then place a hold on those funds if its a debit card or hold back that amount from your credit line on your charge card. Until we click "charge the card" the funds do not come to us. This SOP for the credit card industry.

In terms of the 13th to the 20th I assume you mean the leather cases? That date was changed by the vendor so we passed it on to our customers. The pre-order items say "[Pre-Order***Expected Early February]" in 16pt type at the top of the page. http://store.bizshopr.com/rimacc-10540-003.html

I'm sorry if you sent an email directly and did not get a response - we use blackberry's and often reply within minutes of an inquiry - ping me offline so I can better address these issues.

That's going to be pretty doubtful... RIM is not shipping out-of-market accessories to their US distributor. So at this point it's 8700c and likely 8700t and 8700v for the US market. :(

The battery is of course the same just not the door.

Awesome. Do you know how much the extended battery adds to the life of the 8700c?

If I understand correctly, standard is 1000 MAh versus the extended at 1800 MAh. So, you can do the math, or say almost double it or 8/10 more.....

OF course, those of you that can actually DO math will do way better than me....

Would I still be able to use the stock holder that my 8700c came with, with the door being much larger?

The standard accesories work with the extended door... including holsters. The ProClip holder works with it as well.

We have two different specs for the standard battery...1000 and 1100 mAh... so we would we say 75% more capacity just to split the difference.

Default Extended battery

Can you tell me how much thickness the extended battery and door add to the device? Also, is the extended battery able to be charged in the external battery charger. Was just on the SPD site and am interested. Thanks for your assistance.

As with most extended batteries for Phones & PDAs, it makes the device look a bit bulky. I prefer an extended battery of the same size as the original like the 1550mAh Mugens for iPAQ hw6515 & i-Mate Jam (Slightly more power without adding bulk). Sabesh.

Yes the extended battery will charge in the external charger.

The thinckness is a several millimeters... look at the inset images on the SPD page - clicking them will enlarge them.

I just placed my order for the extended battery and cover. I am tyring to remember if I ordered from you guys before. It has been a long time since I ordered cellphone accessories online. But, you did have the best price that I could find and this is the one item I was waiting on for my 8700c.

Thanks for letting us know it's available.

Well I'm glad you ordered but you may not be thrilled... I just got word that all of the in-stock Ext Batts have been sold. Orders received this AM are in "back order" status. Current estimate is March 10th for resupply. I think we will get more before then but that is the word from the distributor. :(

I wanted to throw my 2 cents in on how great the customer service is at Smart Phone Depot. I recently ordered the 8700c leather pouch and then followed that order up with an email requesting to add the extended battery onto my order. I quickly recieved a reply that the add-on was no problem and did I need the battery shipped before the case. I responded, via email, which didn't make it through. When they didn't hear from me I got a follow-up call from them confirming when I needed the battery. Now that is taking care of your customers.

Thanks!!
