Default Verizon 7250 plan question

Please Login to Remove!

I bought the 7250 model on ebay, i do have a voice plan with verizon right now. I want to get a separate plan for the blackberry i guess data only plan.

I dont really know much, actually i know nothing about them.

I need to use the blackberry for email and IM mainly. What kind of plan or what type of plan do i need to get? Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

You can simply add a BlackBerrydata plan to your voice plan, if you plan on doing IM go for an unlimited plan as IM's tear through data. Word to the wise, be certain that the VZN unlimited plan is truely unlimited? Some carriers have a cap ie. Robbers Wireless in Canada cap their so called unlimited plan at 25MB.

so, im a bit confused. for example, on verizon website:

3 different plans here

Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 500 additional messages $10.00/month
Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 1000 additional messages $15.00/month
Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 2500 additional messages $20.00/month

the 500, 1000 and 2500, these are outgoing messages? or these plans are SMS services?

and also for email, i dont need verizon service, all i need is to be able to login on webmail accounts, such as gmail or yahoo, whatever.

I could be wrong (I'm with Nextel) but I have been looking at Verizon myself and I believe what you are referring to is an SMS plan ... which is different from a blackberry data plan. It will only cover your phone number to phone number SMS messages (250 characters or less).

The blackberry plans are, I think, either a 10MB version or an unlimited version. Go back to the PLANS page and look for the blackberry specific data plan -- that is what you need.

Ramble IM for AIM and eMSNLite for MSN, both free. Search the forum for further info on both.

Incoming and outgoing SMS messages count against these totals. With the Verizon BB data plan (which is actually $44.95 in my part of the world), you'll automatically get the ability to use a BlackBerry Internet Service account, to which you can have all your e-mail forwarded. Or you can have the BIS pull your e-mail from up to 10 different accounts every 15 minutes. It goes right to your phone.

Keep in mind that the Verizon BB plan doesn't include any text messages. I wish they were a bit more like Nextel in that regard. Nextel includes 100 text messages with their data plan.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

44.95 is with a voice plan on the bb, otherwise, its 49.95... Cheapest list price for a plan is tmobile (of course that does not help you much with your 7250 . Make sure you get your account provisioned for EVDO (though I think they all are now)

So with data only plan, i get an email forward, but to reply this email i need to have SMS plan or i will get charged for it? Correct?

What are the text messages to be exact, just like the text messages on the phones? im slightly confused of purpose of them, why not just use IM and its unlimited and seem to me much more convenient? unless im missing something. i've never used SMS, so i dont realy know much about it

You will need a blackberry data plan. As mentioned above the unlimited may be the best choice. With this unlimited plan you can recieve, send and reply to as many emails as you like. EMails and SMS (AKA text messaging are two different things). If you have friends that send you text messages from their phones then this counts as a text message, not an email. Text messags cost .10 each to send and rec.

emails are formated as [email address] and text messages are sent to a phone number ie 4015551212

I am a Verizon customer and I have the unlimited plan and I have had the account for the past 9 months and I am a heavy user. I have never been charged anything over the 44.95.
