Default 7105t and 8700

Please Login to Remove!

Wow... what a forum.... I am totally jazzed about buying my new phone. I've had the Samsung i330 with Palm OS since the beginning... (lol) Looking forward to joining the Blackberry family. I was hoping to get little help in deciding.

I've got it narrowed down to the 7105t and the 8700c. I know a lot depends on the provider, but I just want your input on the pro's / cons of these 2 phones. What you like and what you don't like. I went to RIM's site and did the "compare", but I kinda wanted some real life opinions on the 2 phones...

Thanks a ton for your opinons... I'm planning on pulling the trigger in about a week. I'm extremely excited...

I'd go with the 8700c.

EDGE, full keyboard, beautiful screen, more memory, faster.....

It goes on and on.

Hope this helps.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I also think the 8700 is better. More shortcuts in operating it. Screen, keyboard, EDGE. Go for it and check out my tips site.

I have the 8700c and I love it. It's so much more than I expected.

I'd go with the 8700... but if your cheap (like me) then go for the 7105.

I myself have a 7100 and like it now that suretype learned what I'm trying to do; but yeah... if I was willing to spend more on a BlackBerry, would have gotten the 8700.

Default Both are good

Both are good. I had the 7100t for a year and loved it. I thought that nothing could beat it. Then the 8700 came along. It's even better. I am browsing non-stop on the 8700. I rarely browsed on the 7100.

Interesting you should ask.

I've had a 7100t on T-Mobile for a year and just ordered an 8700c (of course Cingular). Partly because I wanted a full keyboard, partly because Cingular offers discounts through my School and T-Mo doesn't and partly because I like to browse a lot and wanted Edge.

It should arrive tomorrow (Monday) but, as is usually the case, only after I ordered did I delve into the threads here about additional data charges (I'm not on a BES). So given the above advantages I would be concerned about two things:

1. If you're not on a BES and like to browse and use bbWeather and GoogleLocal, etc., there is a decent chance you'll be hit with excess data charges. Not good;

2. Cingular, at least now, does NOT use the newer RIM method which does away with the BWC site. Whereas with the 7100t I can respond to e-mails with any of my configured e-mail accounts, with Cingular you still have the website and the problem that you're going to have only one reply address (unless you use 3rd party software).

Given that there is a 30-day return period I'll play with the 8700c and see if the positives outweigh the negatives. Perhaps by then the RIM lawsuit thingie will be settled and/or TMo will have the 8700.

Good Luck with your decision.

Hey everybody!!! Thanks for your input. I'm going with the 8700, hands down!!! Cingular seems to have a better plan for me also. I went to the Cingular store after church, and was totally awed by it!!! While in the store, I was making sounds like... oooooooooo, whoooooooa, sweeeeeeeeet.... After I finished drooling over it, the sales rep said that they had sold their last one yesterday. hahahahahaha... (lol) I then made another sound...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo...

Sales rep is supposed to call me tomorrow...

Now I need a case with beltclip and swivel. I've heard of

Speck Products
Forte
Gizmoskin

What do you think about these, or should this go into another forum?

Thanks a ton again everyone for your opinions...

God Bless you all...
