I have a unlocked BB7100t from t-mobile, which I got from Amazon.com, its working fine but it has OS3.8.
I have 2 question

1) Should I upgrade the os from t-mobile site or can I use cingular HK which has a os 4.1 avaialble

2) If I upgrade the os will it lock the device to T-mobile again and I will have to unlock it agin.

the upgrade will neither instate nor reinstate a subsidy lock

If your blackberry is working fine, you should not upgrade it.

Upgrading blackberry will result in one out of two:

-It will still be working fine;
-It will not be working fine.

So, if you are happy with what you have, just enjoy it the way it is.

But why would he remain with an outdated 3.8 OS? If anything, recommend to upgrade to TMo's 4.0 which is approved and supported by TMo.

Definatly upgrade 3.8. Us Janky compared to 4.1.42 it's not that hard either. You have the desktop softsware already right?

I have successfully upgraded to 4.1 from HK cingular, although bit slow but BB working fine except for few minor issues

1) I lost the browser and I am using an unlock BB with a local GSM network provider so I was unable to get the browser back by using the methods mentioned in the upgrade thread in this fourm, tried looking for reqwireless but its not available for download any more.

2) Lost the service books too :(

3) Most strange thing is the whenever dialing a local number (e.g. 050577654) from the address book, phone is automatically adding +1 to the numbers i.e. its making them +1050577654 which abviously make them a invalid number.

Looking forward for some helpfull input from the members of this fourm, as I am a new bee to BB, but let me take this chance to thanks all the member who have responded to my previous post.

I installed a third party browser called minutebrowser so the browser problem is solved, but the browser still cant connect to the gprs as I cant find the options to set it up.

The strange problem of dialing is still there as when I dial local number (e.g. 050577654) from the address book, phone is automatically adding +1 to the numbers i.e. its making them +1050577654 which abviously make them a invalid number.

Hope to get some info from the esteemed members of this forum
