I don't think Blackberry Connect UNL is the only requirement. I have a 7290 and an 8700c both with Blackberry Connect UNL. The 7290 works when tethered, the 8700c does not (error 736).

I added the below modem syntax and changed the username and password to the crediantials listed below:

add this syntax to your modem advanced properties page:
+cgdcont=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR"


[email address]
CINGULAR1

By making the changed above I serioulsy increased my performance. I'm on it right now and it's sweet. I was supporting users while sitting in a parking lot today...

I used the above config in combination with some other instructions and it works incredible well. The key is to use the WAP APN.

However, has anyone used PPTP vpn's which running a 8700 in modem tethering mode? I get an error 871 when trying to establish a PPTP session with a Cisco PIX 506e.
