1. No not enabled yet, supposedly coming.
2. I know PIN messages show delivery but I don't think SMS do. Although I have not heard of people putting <confirm> in the address either. See
SMS delivery reports?
3. Never of heard of a 2 line Cingular BB.
4. Yes I use it alot and I have only had one person I could not add to my list. He thinks its his firms issue.

1) Can you at least receive MMS on the 8700? I don't care much about sending them (it's kind of pointless with no camera), but do like to get the random picture from the camera phone people. After many headaches with Nextel, my 7100i can do this, and I'd hate to take a step backwards. I know at least a couple of months ago, the 8700 had nothing to do with MMS -- you wouldn't even get the SMS telling you to visit viewmymessage.com.
2) I read that some folks have the option to enable SMS delivery confirmations. I have a v551 with a 64K Orange SIM and while the v551 does give the option to have a receipt, the request is never honored. So if I wind up with an 8700 that does let me enable confirmations, will they just not work anyway? Perhaps Cingular just doesn't deal with them?
3) The Nextel non-BlackBerry phones have Line 2 support, and there is broken (receive-only) Line 2 support on the Nextel BlackBerries. Is there any Line 2 available on the 8700? I don't care about two bills to two different places, just hopefully being able to have two numbers on the device. I guess even if it's receive only and I can't tell if the call is on 1 or 2, that would be ok -- assuming Cingular even does Line 2.
4) Is BlackBerry Messenger available on the 8700? I remember Cingular "not supporting" it, but I'm not sure if that is just for the 7000 series or in general.
The reason why I'm thinking about ditching Nextel is that iDEN is too slow, I don't use DC much anymore (BB Messenger has taken over), and the bigger screen and full keyboard of the 8700 are too good to pass up. |
