Default upgraded 7100t to os 4.1 now instant messanger doesn't work

Please Login to Remove!

I upgraded my 7100t to 4.1 using the boards posted here by way of the hong kong site. And now instant messanger doesn't work. I can't log into it. It sits at 20% then says there was a "Communication error. Please try again or check your settings" after about 2 minutes. A message also shows up in my messasges folder on my phone that looks like this

WV11RL387 ST=(200,"Successful")
SI=1.1AyK19662807934072742374
CI=wv:OZ417#KvKk@RIM.DWNLD
KA=50001

the beginning of the message is the only part that changes when trying to log on. WV11RL387 goes up by one each time. The second time it was WV11RL388 and so on. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried renewing your service book for internet/im? Strange error though.

Which IM client is this?

I did renew the service books. This is with the instant messanger client that came with my phone. I think that it's a t-mobile messanger which might be creating the problems since they don't have os 4.1 out for the 7100.

1. Go to tools, service books and delete the service book for TMobile USA Instant Messenger client.

2. Go to Tools, Applications and delete Instant messenger. when it asks you to reboot say yes.

3. Once it comes back up go back to tools, host routing table. Click on any entry and select register now.

A new version of the IM application will download automatically and that should fix you up. This is actually in the instructions for installing a new OS.

Already tried updating the instant messanger and it downloaded the same version. Although it did fix the messages that I was getting when trying to sign on the instant messanger just sits at 20% for as long as you let it. Had it sitting for almost an hour once before shutting it down.

I've seen that before on some BB's. Usually downloading the client on top of an upgrade does the trick. If you figure it out let me know. There are other apps that will do the same thing. That's the fix most on here give for your problem.

Default Finally! Someone else has this problem

I have had this problem for about 2 months now. I've been in contact with Tmobile ever since it started and they can't figure it out. They've had me do the suggestions above and still get 20% and then error. I get about 5 messages after this with similar errors. I'd love it if anyone figured this out, since tmobile can't.

I seem to recall having this problem a few months ago as well, after trading up from a 7100t to a 7105t. If I recall, the resolution was to open IM and log in to MSN Messenger first. I did not have a login id, but i used my Microsoft Passport address and it worked. MSN Messenger loaded and after that, the other IM services all started to work. Might be worth a try.

Since i upgraded I have had issues with some programs at first not wanting to work, bbweather, bbtoday and jiveslide. After several deletes, and reboots i have gotten bbweather and bbtoday to work fine again, Jiveslide is giving me a bit of a hard time but i am sure that with time it will come around again, so what i am saying is give it a few goes and if it still not working delete it leave it off for a day or so and try again that is what i did with bbweather which was a bit stubborn.
