I did renew the service books. This is with the instant messanger client that came with my phone. I think that it's a t-mobile messanger which might be creating the problems since they don't have os 4.1 out for the 7100.
1. Go to tools, service books and delete the service book for TMobile USA Instant Messenger client.
2. Go to Tools, Applications and delete Instant messenger. when it asks you to reboot say yes.
3. Once it comes back up go back to tools, host routing table. Click on any entry and select register now.
A new version of the IM application will download automatically and that should fix you up. This is actually in the instructions for installing a new OS.
