Default BlackBerry 7100i + 7 months later

Please Login to Remove!

Given the amazing release schedule for Telus, the 7100i will probably be available sometime during the next month or two (who the hell knows) so, with that timeframe in mind, is it still a worthwhile investment?

BlackBerry's are amazing devices and the Mike service is very helpful which is why I would like to happily marry the services. My issue primarily rests with a carrier that is extremely slow in adopting new technologies and a market that lacks the competition to force their hand in any way.

If and when it's eventually released, do you still recommend the device?

I take it that with no responses, no one recommends the device?

I love my 7100i (thru Nextel). The screen resolution is 100% better than the 7520 I had, the smaller design is much nicer to deal with. It has a few bugs, but all new devices have their quirks - but it's not enough to make me want to give it iup.

Default Good choice

I concur. I have had my 7100i from Nextel for about 3 months now and I would not give it up. It seems between experimenting and reading here at BBforums, I am still learning new things about it every day. It has a great display, not too big but not too small, and very phone friendly (I cannot speak from experience but from what I am told older versions are not as phone friendly). Bottom line, I would highly recommend the 7100i.

I would agree the 7100i has been very good for me and i have had no issues with it. I don't try and make it something it's not, so consider what your going to use it for and see if it meets your needs first.
An example would be the typing on the 7100i. I will tell you it's not like the larger models and in no way is like a normal keyboard.
For me that was not important so i get along fine. Others however tend to type alot with their device and don't like the 7100i for that reason.

I have had the 7100i since the day it came out and I can assure you that this unit is far better than the 7520 which I have owned as well. I have experience very few issues with my unit software wise. I had a MIC go out but that was a hardware issue to to my own fault. I recommend the 7100i with out a doubt. The suretype is something to get use to but I know for a fact that I type faster on the 7100i then I did on the 7520. From the 3rd party applications to OEM applications I have not one complaint.

Just got a 7100i last week and love it! The only question I have is how to use it with Yahoo Messenger. Do I need to download it somewhere to put it on my phone?

I did the 7520 to 7100i upgrade recently as well. The keyboard and suretype is pretty darn good, albiet I haven't typed any huge e-mails, just short ones and some MMS messages. If you are a poor at spelling the it may give you some fits. Screen is AWESOME compared to the 7520, but it stinks that you cannot view the screen all the time.. .it only runs with the backlight and then shuts off completely. D'oh! More phone-like and perfect for the non-hardcore user.

I'm not sure why this turned into a support thread.

It's called 'hi-jacking' a thread.

Sorry...I just tried the link that was supplied within this thread and it doesn't work for me. I was hoping the people within this thread could help or maybe they experienced the same issue.

Just because the link is in this thread, doesn't mean that it should be. Someone else mentioned it earlier on but that was a derail as well.

Try this thread. It is 6 pages in length (at the time of this writing) and has a lot of information about installing the Yahoo! messenger client on a BlackBerry. I suspect that you're trying the link above on your desktop when you should be visiting the URL using your BlackBerry browser instead. However, not having installed the software, I can't be sure that this is correct. You'll get more luck if you ask your question in the thread I linked.
