Default 7100t & OS 4.0 Shipping?

Please Login to Remove!

Will TMO be selling the 7100t with 4.0 already installed on it or will we need to continue the download and upgrade. I have a few friends wanting to aquire a 7100t but are leery since the release. They feel if they wait they may be able to purchase a 7100t already to go.

Anyhoo if this has been discussed earlier I cant find where. But if it has please be gentle with me

Give TMO about 1.5-2 weeks and all models should be shipping with OS4.0. I was told that the 7230 would be mid-Feb, so the 7100 may be shipping with it now.

To add to the above, got a 7100t in a T-Mobile store on Monday 1/24, has V3.80.128. I have the speakerphone problem (need to hit "P" twice to turn it on) so I thought I'd upgrade but I'm waiting to see if T-Mo can successfully port my number. If they can I'll go in on Monday (last day to return) and ask for one with the updated software-otherwise I'll just chuck the whole thing even though I LOVE the device.

What is the difference between upgrading your OS versus getting a new handset with it preloaded? I don't really see a difference, to be honest.

I'm not sure if you misread my post or not (it was phrased very badly, so I'm not blaming you if you did). I tried to say that I would return the phone if T-Mobile couldn't port my number, not that I would return it if I couldn't get one with OS 4 preloaded.

Now to be fair, there is a difference in the sense that if you're not experienced with doing an upgrade things can go wrong, and of course phones have different things loaded on them so every case is unique. I'd certainly RATHER have one with the new OS preloaded but if T-Mobile port the number but don't have an upgraded 7100t in the store I'll do the upgrade myself, carefully, if only to get the speakerphone fix.
