i am new here and have no solution for my problem:

I got an BB 8700G and cannot delete 2 Messages in my Inbox. I have tried to use the Desktop Manager Backup & Restore --> Advanced --> and then tried to delete the Messages Folder.

The Desktop Manager says: Communication Error - Device cannot detect data

Is there any solution for my problem?

Are you saying you tried this method AFTER you simply clicked on each message and chose Delete from the trackwheel menu?

Yes, i have read the Message. Closed it, and then i want to delete it. The message still appears in the Inbox.

Try removing/reinsert battery

That might clear up OS issues

I have removed the battery...... The same error!

This problem occurs also with an user at my company.
The mail won't go away.

Checked the following settings: Homescreen -> Messages -> Options -> Email Reconciliation -> Delete on -> Prompt.
After that was checked, we let the user choose "Reconcile Now". The mail was still there.
The user removed the battery and placed it back. The mail was still there.
We let the user check in his Lotus Notes for the email wether the email is encrypted or not. The user told us that the mail was nog encrypted.

The strange thing is that the message itself is gone. But the email header is still there.

The user is the owner of a Blackberry 7290.

Try selecting the date in the message bar and then use the trackwheel to Delete Prior.

Might wanna try the old "format and reinstall"

-> make a backup of the handheld first, just in case

-> use the Wipe Handheld in Option (wrench) , Security , Wipe Handheld (in menu)
-> then connect to desktop manager so it can redo it's Enterprise Activation

-> might wanna do a selective restore from the backup after that

Same problem. "Delete Prior" was the only thing that worked.

It seems we have a work around for this issue:

Connect the Blackberry with the USB cable to the PC.
Open the Desktop Manager.
Choose Backup and Restore.
Choose Advanced
You will see 2 rows. Left is the Desktop Manager, right is the Blackberry.
On the right side, choose for messages and click on the arrow to the left.
Choose for Close. Now an message will appear to create a backup, choose YES.
Choose again for Advanced. Select on the right side Messages and choose CLEAR and click on REFRESH. And again CLOSE.
Open once again Advanced and select Messages on the left side. Click on the arrow to the left. Now all the messages will be placed back on the Blackberry.

I was having the same problem as the original poster.

Everything worked fine until I got to the final step:
Moving messages from the Left --> Right.
I received some type of error message.

Bottomline: It worked, I was able to delete the emails and seems like everything is working properly again.
