Default my 7100t aka "out-of-warranty-piece-of-poo-poo"

My 7100t's microphone took a plunge for the deep-end a few weeks ago, and after sitting on the phone with TMO Business Support for 2+ hours (a downgrade in OS, a reinstallation of the OS, a wipe of the handheld, etc), they let me know that my handheld was no longer in warranty (over 1 year old). Considering the microphone is a janky piece of crap on the initial run of 7100t's (I got mine within a week of its release), I found that quite odd. But anyhow, seeing as how the 8700g was just a few weeks away, I decided to wait it out, as a co-worker had his old personal 7100t (he has a 7105t for business use) just sitting around. I was told prior to getting it that there was a slight issue with the display (oh yeah, this one is no longer under warranty either), but nothing too bad.

Now, anytime I try to turn the damn display on, I either get multi-colored lines ("acid trip" sleep mode) or a blank screen ("I just saw a ghost" sleep mode). I actually have to press my damn thumb against the base of where the LCD is (where its little strip is connected into the main board) just to get a damn screen. And if I let go, it immediately goes back to the ghost-face mode. UGH!

And yes, for your own amusement, I've added pictures.

Hey jibi this reminds me of the early days of television, you would start the set, a white blank screen would come on, then after it warmed up youd get a test pattern, then finally youd get images, hell you got the retro model that is all.

haha. i took the thing apart and it looks like the plastic latch for the LCD connector was loose. i pushed it down (amongst 10,000 other things) and its now working as designed, i think.
