I just got my new BB 8700 from t-mobile uk and ported my number from a previous contract. I was given a temporary number by T-mobile which shows up on my devide as 'my number'. However, my new number has now ported and is active, so the temporary number no longer exists - but my BB still shows it. Is there any way to change that, or is it part of the SIM card??

It is part of the SIM, and is changeable.

Go to Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card > click trackwheel > Edit SIM Phone Number.

Yeah. BB incorrectly shows the number originally written on the SIM by default. It should query the network to get the current number assigned to the SIM (not the number written to the SIM when it was shipped to you).

I had this same problem when I ported my Alltel number to CIngular. The sim held the old Cingular number that I orginally had for my Blackberry.
WHen I tried to edit the SIM card phone number, I would always get "access denied" messages.

It will go to the right number in a few days, I had the same problem.
