Default Question about using the 8700 as a modem

Please Login to Remove!

I spoke to cingular and was told that I would be able to use my blackberry as a modem for my laptop no problem.

I have 2 questions

1) I understand that the blackberry 8700 cannot be used as a bluetooth modem, but can the future 8707 be used as one?

2) If I were to use my blackberry to watch TV on my laptop through my Slingbox would that violate Cingular's TOS?

Thanks in advance!

1. Correct, but not sure on the 8707

2. From a technical stand point I donxxx8217;t think the BB has that much bandwidth to pull it. My Sling box bogs on most hotel internet. I know it isnxxx8217;t my house, I have FIOS. I wouldnxxx8217;t be worried about TOS but more about overage charges.

If I sign up for the blackberry unlimited internet can I still be slammed with overage charges?

Also about the slingbox, to stop it from bogging up, have you tried lowering the video bitrate, frames per second and the audio bitrate? I had that problem too, but after I tinkered with these specs a bit there were no more problems, and the video quality was still acceptable.

Yes

yes, I am on the lowest and buffer like 30 sec with it waiting to start. th internet here in my hotel SUCKS. In the office or peoples personal connection works GREAT. I normally bump it up A Lot almsot to high. I also have it HIGEST in my QOS and sits in my DMZ network for less network trafic.
