I know a number of people have asked similar questions to this before but I have not yet been able to find a definiative answer.

When I purchased my blackberry it came with 2 USB cables. One I use for the wall charger and the other I use to sync with my PC. These work fine. However, I wanted to set up an additional charger at work (either a wall charger or a USB cable from my laptop). I have tried 2 mini USB chargers and a number of mini USB cables and none of these will work. I know the chargers work as they successfully charge my PDA and other mobile phones. The USB cables also work fine on other devices but my laptop does not detect or charge the blackberry when connected by them.

Is there something substandard about the USB cables supplied with the Blackberry as I cannot work out what else can be causing the problem?!

Do you have the BB drivers loaded at work or on your laptop? Are you using a HUB instead of directly to the PC, if you are using a HUB sometimes charging and other functions of the USB cable to the BB will not work, it is recommended that you connect directly to the PC without a HUB.
