I would like to know how do I set up my BB to play a sound when i get a pin message?

Go into Mail application and go to Options. Set "Make PIN Messages Level 1" to Yes.
Then in your various Profiles, you can set a unique sound for Level 1 messages.

How would i get a sound alert for a message coming from BB Messenger. It shows an icon but no sound

Messenger Alert also has sound settings available in each Profile. (I dont use BB Messenger so I cannot tell you if it works - but it should.)

Yup. You have alert settings for messages and alert for BB messenger. Everything is set via profiles except for Make PIN Messages Level 1 which is under Options in the Messages app.
