Default Dead Pixel?

Please Login to Remove!

So second 8700 in 2 weeks... First had a lot of issues... took it to the store, swapped it out

Today i put the space theme on... and i noticed in the upper right corner a white dot (dead pixel)

Has anyone else had dead pixels? How come i get 2 bad phones!?!?! lol

So now im thinking....

Should i swap it again!!! or just keep this one (since i dont use that theme i'll prob never notice it) and then in the future if i say drop the phone(or it just gets all beat up from use)... I'll have an easy excuse to do an exchange by mail...

Not necessarily so. A dead pixel may no tbe enough...

WHY? that sure seems like something that would be covered to me...

A dead pixel may indicate that there are further problems that just havent surfaced yet. Even if there are no further issues, the fact remains that there is a defect with the current device. The manafacturers and carriers have a responsibility to ensure that their products do not have such defects within a one year period. If they do show signs of manafacturing defects, it should be the carriers responsibility to replace them with a working unit, free of defects.

I think your issue is cause enough to warrant a replacement, now the issue is, do you feel that it is a big enough situation to warrant a replacement?

Thats a good point. Thats what i was thinking too.

Other then that dead pixel the phone works fine... now. And i also like my PIN number Its a good easy one (although i guess that really doesnt matter)

maybe ill flip a coin as to relplace it or not

You know, upon thinking about this a little bit more, you may want to take advantage of your exchange period while you still can. I will be a hassel to change your PIN on your account and email and restore all settings and info, but i think for the better. The burnt or dead pixel could be an indicator of future problems. I would change it once more just to make sure things dont go crazy later in the game.

If I were u, I will probably swap it again....!!! dead pixels ...hate it...I will never tolerate dead pixel on my cell!

I don't know if thats covered under the warranty. I'd probably try to, though. On a screen that small, that would be fairly irritating. And for me, once I see a dead pixel, my eyes tend to focus on it all the time!

Just an FYI though, dead pixels occur during the manufacturing process, not during normal usage. Something about the gas used to create the pixels getting trapped or something. I forget exactly, but in any case, you will not get any other dead pixels as time goes on.

Exactly. Dead/stuck pixels are completely normal and are not an indicator of future problems. That would be like saying a dead/stuck pixel on my desktop LCD means my hard drive is going to fail. Most LCD manufacturers have a specified number of dead/stuck pixels that are "within spec."

Nevertheless, they can be incredibly annoying.

My understanding from Verizon is that there has to be a given number of dead pixels before they will do it. I smartly asked what that number is, and I was promptly told that they do not give out that information. So what I am thinking is that it si a discretionary number and that you at best are at the mercy of the individual you talk to.
