i have a 7100g and i am having problems with it and was gettin ready to send it back to cingular before my 30 days r up but i still want a bb, and was wondering if i should tell them to just send me another 7100 or a 7290? any and all pro's and cons would b appreciated.

Either one is very capable. You need to ask yourself what you need more. The 7920 hast the qwerty keyboard and a form factor less conducive for phone calls, but IMO easier to get going on. The 7100 has sure type, which taks a bit of getting use to, but is just as easy to use as a qwerty once you get the hang of it, and the form factor of the 7100 is more like a phone. I prefer the 7290, I find it does everything I need it to do. Just make sure whatever one you get, upgrade to the latest software.

I liike the 7290 (this is what I have). And currently is running on 4.1 OS. I don't like SureType

I prefer the 7290 but I can't stand SureType either.

I went from a 7230 to a 7105T. I have to admit, I regret not getting the 7290. I thought it would be ok since my blackberry is more of a novelty than a business need. I like it for all of its features, but get so tired of the sure type anticipating the wrong words.

Oh well, I am just going to try to make it work for now.

well i have just got cingular to replace my phone beings i have only had it for 4 days b4 it started screwing up,,, hit one button and other letters would show up, hit the scroll button and it would dial 1 on the phone,, but they had no problems sending a new one and even substituted the 7290 since it cost what i paid for the 7100. (got it refurbished) i was really suprised they didnt give me any trouble about the swapping, and swapping models at that. yea i dont like the predictive text either. and the double tapping the keys also turned me off, i like the look of the 7100 but that was about as far as it went. and i love the blackberry features the 3 days that it workd with no hangups really hooked me. but the 7100 is definately not for the person doing lots of email, txt msgs, and instant msgs. thanx for all the input guys. and if u want to make the sure type shut of and use multi-tap just hold ur * button
