You should have coverage in Jamaica, it also shows that there's GPRS coverage over there. Personally I don't know as I haven't been to Jamaica yet but it should be no trouble getting data coverage in that country. Make sure that you get the $19.99 unlimited bb international roaming package.

Data roaming at $20 is a good deal and I have it but the TMO voice roaming rates are a killer!

Default TMO UK in Jamaica ...

This February I spent a week in Jamaica with an 8700 on TMO UK. I just used it for email; no browsing, IM, etc. One day out of seven I got a 'data connection refused error' but the the service was restored the next day. So overall, it worked fine (in contrast to a 7290 on o2 UK that someone else brought, which could only get a GSM connection and was useless for data the entire time).

thanks for the replies

my cingular Treo roams on Cable & Wireless there with no problems, and text messaging works, but I have never tried the data service.

i get so-so GPRS on my Digicel phone there

does anyone know if Cable & Wireless or Digicel is the roaming partner?

I am heading out to Jamaica on Dec 23rd and had 2 questions as well. I noticed that there are 2 providers C&W and Digicel. Both seem to work GPRS. Which one is better and will email work flawlessly or are there setup issues that must be addressed first?

Thanks in advance.

I am with Rogers which states that my 7100 R should be able to do all of the above and more.

As long as your 7100r shows GPRS (capital letters) you should be fine.

May take few minutes for device to find local network for roaming. Be patient (up to 30 minutes worst case).

If it can't, get to Networks and keep selecting available networks manually until you get one that gives your blackberry GPRS.

Cable & Wireless will be the roaming partner you will want to use.
