Default 8700c BB Cingular unlimited... no web browser???

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought my first BB 4 hours ago, and I can't seem to find web browser # 1 on this device. Also I was hoping to avoid the text message charge by downloading googlechat or yahoo messenger since it doesn't seem to be included in the UNLIMITED "DATA" plan, apparently text messages are something other than "DATA". But neither of these programs will download from blackberry or anywhere else.... I must say I am SO SICK of damn cell phone carriers who nickel and dime their customers...

Can someone help me find the supposed 2 web browsers on this damn device? I swear if I am charged for web browsing IF I find these phantom browsers I am cancelling the service I just setup.....

Thanks, Will

What you need to do is send your self a service book from the BIS server. Logon to this via https://webclient.blackberry.net/Web...ite=mycingular

1. Do you have a Blackberry data plan active on your account?

2. Have you tried sending the service books to your device?

3. Sometimes Cingular forgets to enable access to the Internet Browser. You have to call into data support and ask them to give it to you.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Carriers are interesting companies. Verizon sure has been pushing the its the network promotions lately.

If you can't get the browser icon/service books to show up by resetting the handheld or registering then Cingular's Blackberry support can manually push it out to you.

you need to do a REGISTER NOW from the Host routing Table

Prerequisites

Check for signal strength.
Does device display GPRS in the upper right hand corner? If not troubleshoot device status.

Scroll to the Options icon and press Select (to select push the trackwheel in).
Scroll to Advanced Options and press Select.

Scroll to Host Routing Table and press Select.

The HTR Editor screen will display.

Click the trackwheel, select Register Now.

If the MEdia Net Icon still does not appear contact Cingular Customer Care
