| I want to keep this up in the discussion so the good'ol idiots at Verizon get a clue! They don't really seem to give a rats butt about what their customers want. Geeze, everyone and their mother's announcing the 8700, but NOOOOO Verizon says they typically take longer to launch phones because they want to make sure they work. That's pure BS, because they launched the 7130e with MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR bugs, not to mention the 700w which I own as well, and it doesn't come NEAR Blackberry as far as I am concerned!!!! | | Offline

| You know why it takes a long time elmaldingleberry? Because they have to build the CDMA EVDO chipset to use in the device. That takes a long time. Then it has to be tested. That takes an even longer time. It's not that RIM isn't working on it, or that Verizon doesn't care, it's just the way things are.

| Come on DCx2... First, it is a long time, and second, they have had this for a long time. They probably turned it down because they were focusing on the 700W piece of crap!!!! Am I being too aggresive??? Good!!!! | | Offline

| I use Verizon for my voice plan, and completely agree that it is annoying they can't get good phones when they come out. The reason is pure business though. The phone makers are generally going to design phones for the system 85% of the world uses (GSM), instead of 15% (CDMA). Then if it's successful, they'll modify it for CDMA too. Occasionally Verizon will give a phone maker a bunch of money so that they'll make the CDMA version first. This was the case with the Q and the 700w.

| You should probably know that your "aggressiveness" by keeping up this "good ole discussion" isn't going to warrant any more expedience from Verizon's end. | | Offline

| Thanks Todd! I learned something new... Sorry guys, again, I don't know if Verizon monitors these Forums. I wanted it to stay up top so they know we, their market makers, are upset or let down by them. | | Offline

Anyway, I'll say it again. 5 months is a short period of time in the telecom world.

| verizon > good service > bad phones. If your a phone junkie that always needs the latest and greatest then Verizon would not be your best choice. The only real reason to go with V would be the reliability. Definitely not the rates either. | | Offline

| I really want to have an 8700 on Verizon, and my main choice for sticking with them... If I'm going to pay 30bucks a month or more (cingular charges more) for my BB un limited I want high speed like my EVDO and I won't go to GSM till they get HSPDA... I've done the edge thing on a Treo 650 w/ Cing and I'm not doing it again... | | Offline
