Default New 7250 User---Task lisk to get me going

Please Login to Remove!

I am getting a Sprint 7250 tomorrow. I am tired of having my handheld (PPC and PALM) being a source of aggrevation and am hoping that the BB will be simple, stable and efficient. I have looked around here this afternoon and from what I have read it seems that I need to;

Upgrade the OS to 4.1
Install desktop software and sync PIM
Get flagged for the EVDO PRL
Get my blackberry email address set up for gmail forwards (how does this work???)
Redirector set up for corporate exchange (no BES)
I am also going to add bbtoday and bb411- both huge pleasant suprises coming from palm and ppc.

Is there anything else that I am overlooking? Must have software, etc.

Thanks in advance. Seems like a great community here!

I woul dnot set up the redirector myself if you are not on a BES. Just forward your mail to your BB email address. From outlook you do it by setting up a rule and from gmail you do it by setting up filters. Play with the filters until such time as you find what meets your needs. There are several threads that discuss gmail filters look in my signature for Stinsonddogs hints they are smething you need to read through you will find tons of wealth there.

Thanks. So the benefit of forwarding by using filters with outlook would be that the desktop could be truned off? Also, how easy is it to seperate gmail from exchange/outlook mail. Can I see different boxes? Is it done by simply applying filters on the handheld?

Thanks for the info

Yes with a rule you do not need to keep computer on. No you cannot separate the different kinds of email in the BB.

The best place to put filters is on the gmail account itself.
