Default Question about typing speed/accuracy on 8700 vs 7230

Please Login to Remove!

I have used a TMO 7230 for several years for email only and am seriously considering upgrading to the 8700 when it's released. I do not use my Blackberry as a phone, just email and web browsing. From what I've seen the keys on the 8700 are closer together than on the 72** series models. For those of you who have used both series, have you found it harder to type as quickly and/or accurately on the 8700? Any other issues I should consider in deciding whether or not to upgrade? I've lurked on this forum for quite some time, and this is my first post. Lots of very helpful information. Thanks in advance to everyone.

I've just upgraded to the 8700c. The difference isn't that significant, but it is a little harder to type on. It just takes a little getting used to.

I thought I would have a harder time. There is some getting used to but after only 3 weeks with my 8700, my speed and accuracy is right up where it should be..

I found I was more comfortable typing fast on my 7290 but the 8700 is comparable.

I assume that everyone loves the brighter screen, faster processor, etc? Are there other pros/cons worth considering?

It took me about 2 months before I typed just as fast on the 8700 as I did on my old 7280 (325 keypresses per minute -- 65 words per minute). Yeah, I thumb-touchtype on my BlackBerry.

Within the first week, I was already typing almost as fast but my error rate was astronomically high (lots of typos).

I actually find it easier to type on the 8700 than on my previous 7280. On the 7280, the keys are built into the device while on the 8700, the keys are sticking out a little. So to me, it is easier to feel where they are. I can handle them being closer together, that wasn't a problem for me.
