Are you going to stick with your 7290? I have had my 7290 since Feb (coming from a 7230) and I love it. I love the design and feel and I am a HUGE fan of the QWERTY keyboard, it just feels solid. Anyway with all the talk of the 8700 will you be making the switch soon? I personally prefer the look and feel of the 7290 better. The 8700 doesnt really offer me anything new that I will use or need. Anyway what is your input? |
I will stay with the 7290 ........... What's soooo special about the 8700... Okay it's new, big deal! We all been thru "the impulse buy the new gadget first" phase (at least some of us have) I just dont see the big deal about high speed internet, and that keyboard, and deisgn isn't that hot IMO. |
Ya, I agree. I really havent had that new gadget impulse with the 8700. For a wirless device that doesnt have EDGE or high speed my pages load pretty quick. At least quick enough for my liking. |
I asked myself the same w=question before I upgraded. Even hesitated for a week or two. But the fact of the matter is that the speed difference is the biggest factor. Clicking links/meus/messages/etc are isntantaneous as compared with the 7290. maintaining larger mailboxes, numerous calendar entries, etc slows your 7290 down but the 8700 keeps chugging. Message truncation seems to be less of an issue on the 8700 as compared with the 7290. The difference is more than having the newest toy. I can never go back. Why have a pentium 4 when a pentium 2 does the trick? That's what the difference feels like. |
i have three, 7290, 8700, and 7780 i love the 7780. the screen is big, the keyboard is nice, but its menu is slow and there is not enough memory.... the 7290 is nice, feels the best in my hands, the screen is decent, the menu is a bit faster and a bit more memory the 8700 is awesome.....the web is way faster, the screen blows everything away, the memory is huge and menu is so much faster.... its a tough choice between the 7290 and the 8700.... if i just got the 7290, i would stick with it, but if its time to upgrade, its time to upgrade |
own a 8700c but ... ok , love my 8700c but my fat fingers stop me from enjoying it . i even tried a treo ...ok , sorry everyone , but i did and nothing ... not for me . i loved holding the BB 7290 in the cingular store since i could more easily type with the 7290 keys spread out more than on the 8700c . i do love the high speed and memory of the 8700c but wish that they could combine the key spacing of the 7290 ...and general feel and grip of the wide screen too , with the speed and techno-gizmos of the 8700c ... hhhmm should i call my " insiders " at RIM and request something probably everyone with chunky fingers like myself has already requested ...lolol . haha . well , in the end , i love my BB 8700c but also casually stare at the 7290 since i love that wide grippy feel , wide screen , and very nice wide spacing keys . hhmm such a struggle . lol  |
Keeping mine until: (1) it dies (2) I'm offered a free 8700. |
