Default Waiting for the Cingular update

Please Login to Remove!

Every day I check these forums for any signs of the cingular update being released. I don't understand why most of the rest of the companies who have the 8700 have already updated their BB but not cingular! it's really starting to get on my nerves.

That and wasn't cingular supposed to be upgrading the BIS system? It's still looking exactly like it always has...

what upgrade are you looking for in your device?

what needs to be upgraded in the cingular BIS?

You do know who operates and administers BIS services correct? give you a hint, its not cingular.

Hold alt and type LGLG. Click the wheel and clear your event log. Might help....

It's newer versions of the OS for the 8700 series released by other cellular companies. With a little effort they can be applied to work with Cingular's 8700c without much difficulty.

Wholley crap!!!!!!!! it's like a new machine!!! does it keep the log intact even when you cycle the BB? Because this is the first time since it started getting slow that it has felt super fast again! And I've turned the unit off a few times since then. But I haven't removed the battery. Only turned it off.

I clear my log everyday. Wish I could just turn it off. The only time I've ever used it was to look at the outputs using JL_Cmder.

resetting the bb or turning it off and back on again does not clear the event log.

You will wait quite a while. My experince is the providers focus on the newer models they need to release and don't see a big deal in providing the upgrades. And yes the BIS upgrade probably has a higher priority.

Whe you load a new operating system do you have to redo the enterprise activation again?

Default Clearing the Event Log

I'm with VidGameKing on this one, that makes a huge difference! Am I the only one who did not know about this trick (with the exception of VGK of course. )?

Is it just me, or could clearing the log also speed up the data transfer rate using the browser. If these things are unrelated, then maybe I am just suffering from the perception that the whole device is working faster. It sure seems like pages load faster, though.

I would not have thought I would see such a noticeable difference. I have only had my 8700 for about a month. I did not realize that it had slowed down in that time, but it sure appears to have. It's fast now, though.

Thanks for the tip.

Yes, here is a trick. Delete your phone log first and do your EA while connected via USB and it will go pretty fast.
