I have my 7290 with Tmo for a couple months. I have no clue what 2 icon mean in to top. One looks like a peice of paper with a downward arrow on it. It is positioned slightly to the left of the time (I know this is not a due task that is due). And the other looks like a telephone (I know this is not a voicemail indication).

the telephone icon might represent a missed call - you will usually see both the voicemail icon and the missed call icon until after you visit the phone screen to see who called.

im not sure what the other one is - could it be a reminder for an upcoming appointment?

It might be a browser push notification.
