Default 123 displayed over signal strength indicator - what does this mean?

Does anyone know what it means when 123 is displayed over the signal strength indicator (bar graph style) on an 8700c (Cingular)?

You need to pick a nice quite hour or so and spend it with your manual. There is SO much the Blackberry will do, so many things built into it that if you just take a little time you will not believe how nice of a device you have choosen to carry with you.

Manual? We don't need no stinkin manual! JK My BB didn't even come with a manual. Everything I know about it has been from reading this forum.

The manual is a good reference for me, when I can't find something online THEN I hit the manuals.
